I have several Project Explorer features set to 'Automatically Create 3D Elements' and 'Create Template Geometry'. I also have assigned a Corridor Template to a geometry feature. When I draw an alignment (with the Feature Definition Toggle Bar correctly set) I generate a corridor while laying out my alignment. How do I get this behavior when:
1) importing geometry from a native file,
or
2) using the Create Civil Rule Feature command?

The " create 3D automatically" and "Use Feature definition template" commands are settings that will only function on the initial placement of the (Civil) element.
The create 3D automatically can create a best fit alignment or establish a profile on an element when snapped to the ends of elements with active profiles.
The Use Feature Definition Template" will attach the template specified with the features properties to the alignment on the initial placement.
When importing Geometry, the geometry is imported but no feature can be specified.
When creating a "civil ruled" feature the element has been created previously and is now only being updated with civil attributes (rules).
