Survey Exporting Tools

With any luck, this will be an easy question. Our client has requested that we provide the following deliverables:

- Control Points in FWD
- Alignments in ALG
- Surface in DTM
- Surface Boundary in DTM
- Topo in FWD

Not being too familiar with all the tools in SS3 Geopak, I am having trouble seeing exactly how some of this can be done.

1) Is there a way Geopak can export to FWD? Everything I see XML and ALG.
2) Once I have all my data imported, how can I selectively export to FWD (or XML) only the control points? The same question could also be asked about the surface and boundary DTMs.
3) It seems like I am continually having issues editing my SMD file and then bringing it back into SS3 as an XML. Are there known issues with this? Along these same line, what is the best way to edit the Survey Feature Definitions once I have linked the XML? I don't see the same options as I did when it was an SMD file. Do I need to do any further editing through element templates?

Thanks,
Ken

  • I have a related post running with no responses. We need to be able to create XML reports on par with the legacy Survey products. I need to be able to export a PNEZD CSV file where the codes in the Description contain all the linking codes that were imported. On key method to determine why a code fails to draw the correct linework is being able to display the full imported linking codes. This new approach where they get parsed and no longer exist in the survey has some serious flaws. Only InRoads Survey and its Survey XML Reports have allowed me to read and use attribute information in multiple ways. To lose that will severely impact many of our workflows.
