I am having major problems with Mx crashing and I’m not convinced it’s something I’m doing wrong (could be majorly wrong there). Every time I run my design input file, extra strings are being created (string name %%%%) within the Ground Model, and if I allow these to build up, Mx keeps falling over. Also, in addition to this I am having to clear out the temp files that Mx produces periodically (I understand these are supposed to be removed every time Mx closes, but it isn’t doing this. At the minute I can’t work out whether it’s something within my input files (I don’t think it is), the set up of Mx on my machine or insufficient memory on my hard drive to keep Mx stable.
I would really appreciate any help you can provide to rectify this problem.
Hi AJI,
Usually this error only appear on MX2004 version, I'm hardly getting this error on MXV8i SS2, perhaps you can share the input file for testing,
I'm been using MX2.4 to MXV8i SS3 (over 12 years),

It is hard to say what the cause could be but as it occurs when you run the input file looking at that is good place to start. Is the input file carrying out a few functions?, i.e geometry design, string design, earthworks design, section creation.
Further to what Jason suggested, I would suggest that you find out exactly when the input file creates the first %%%% string. Do this by adding some REPORT 991 options in the input file, then run it and look through the output window at the reported string names. This should help to narrow down where the problem occurs, as you should not be getting strings with this name. So start by isolating the cause of this, and resolving it.
Once you've resolved the issue with the string names, then it would also be worth checking the model file for pointer errors.

I have attached my design input file and will send a genio file of the existing ground survey model also.
Thanks
