InRoads SUE plan preparation tools

I have been looking at InRoads SUE; my question is when is the functionality for Labelling, Plan & Profile Generation, etc. going to be integrated so the native geometry database files will no longer be needed?

I have users who have used Civil 3d in the past who are not impressed with the plan generation tools of InRoads so I am hoping that the new iteration of plan labelling and plan and profile preparation tools will be more intuitive to use.

I am particularly interested in sewer, storm water and water long sections.

  • The complete set of next generation plans production tools for utilities will not be implemented until the next major release of Microstation/OpenRoads.  In the interim, we are evaluating a variety of short term labeling tools to put into potential SUE Maintenance Releases

    What's InRoads SUE?

Sounds really cool, but why do we customer don't get informed in any way about such great enhancements to the civil products, we are using InRoads
    since 1998?

Over 4 years ago. So we are still stuck with the dead text for the plan designs? The text from analytic view that is.

I'm not a programmer by any level, so I can't comprehend the complexity in creating a tool that will create a dynamic label the user can place by clicking a cell placed in the design. The text option for displaying element information is already in the program, but it if you would like to display 4-5 different values from a cell placing the text for each element takes a long time.

It's such a shame a tool like this falls short on something so simple as to placing information for the 2d plan view.

I have finally gotten my head around the kinks and personality of the program, but now we are looking at alternatives due to the vast amount of time it takes to implement changes to a design. Redesigning the placement of the different elements in the file is quickly done, but all the changes to the annotation takes for ever.

I have been trying to look in to different approaches to retrieve the information from SUE element in the design in a fast way, but I'm not sure how to approach the problem.

Text apparently have no API for programming a set of element information to retrieve.

I don't know if it would be worth creating a link to a database, and then link back in to the file. This seems excessive though.

I don't know if it could perhaps be accomplished with tag sets.
