How can I import a horizontal alignment into InRoads SS2? I need to export a set of alignments, change their style and description attributes, then import them back into InRoads. I’ve tried using SDK options. I tried using the report browser to export horizontal alignments to ASCII then use the Alignment To ASCII macro, but that doesn’t import the header info (like name, style, etc.).
LandXML works, but it would be handier if I could update the small amount of fields that I need in a user-friendly interface like Excel (instead of searching and replacing data in Notepad++). Unfortunately I haven’t been able to successfully map the LandXML schema in Excel.
Are there any other InRoads reports or tricks for importing alignments, including the header data? TIA for your ideas!
Under the Geometry tab there are the Copy Geometry and Rename Geometry commands. They appear to do what you want.
Jim - these are certainly useful commands. In my situation, I'm changing the alignment properties for quite a lot of alignments at a time, so I need a more automated solution. (Background: we are developing a script that we can use to check Symbology when we update our styles. And our agency has a heck of a lot of styles!)
The View Horizontal Annotation tool can be used to change multiple alignment styles at once. With Filters setup to allow quick selection of alignments with identical styles, you could step through a bunch of alignments and then save the ALG. There is the setting where you can use the As Defined Style, Active Style or Active Style with Overwrite. The third one is the key to changing a bunch of alignments at one time. Perform it in a junk file as it will want to draw all of these as it goes.
