Template Transitions

I am running Inroads SS2 and trying to get my arms around template transitions.  The problem is the edit transition dialog box only displays the backbone of the template.  How do you control transitions outside the backbone?  For example, how do you control the transition of an end condition going from a 1:1 catch slope to a 2:1?

  • Use Your Parametric Constraints in the Roadway Designer.

1.) Make sure that you are using feature overrides on your fill or cut point. (Fill_RT, Fill_LT, Cut_LT, Cut_RT)
2.) In the Template add a slope constraint label to the Fill or Cut point. Make it the same name for clarity (Fill_RT, Fill_LT, Cut_LT, Cut_RT)
3.) Update your template drops in the Designer to get the changes.
4.) Go to Parametric Constraints in the Designer.
    5.) Select the Constraint label from the pulldown. (Fill_RT, Fill_LT, Cut_LT, Cut_RT)
6.) Set the stations and slope changes and hit add.
    7.) That's it!!

    Enjoy!!

  • This is a typical entry for using parametric constraints. This is a transition by stations with slope changes from 1-2 slope to a 1-4 slope and back to 1-2. Remember that the default slope is 1-2 and will use 1-2 unless other wise noted. Parametric constraints can be used for Lane transitions as well.

  • One other note. Parametric constraints can be exported to a text file. You can make changes and import back in. OR you can save the to a text file for safe keeping in case something goes wrong.
