In the dialog for labeling contours "Text Symbology" the field for changing the justification of the text is greyed out is there a way to change the justification?
This is how you would change the justification. The question is why is this greyed out. Is this the only field that is greyed out in the Text Symbology dialog? Do you have read-write access to your XIN file?
The justification is the only field that is greyed out and I do have read/write access to the XIN file
Would you mind uploading your XIN file so that I can test with it?
I have not seen the Justification field greyed out in this manner. Are you trying to use a custom Text Symbology or just manually edit the value to adjust the setting? Do you see this same behavior when you just go into the Names Symbology manager, edit a symbology, and try to adjust and of the Text settings? It should be the same dialog but I want to see if the problem is with just that one command.
As a workaround, you could create a text style in MicroStation with this information pre-defined so when you select the text style in the dialog there is no need to make that change. It could be a bug or glitch in that version you are working in.

We found that in the View Contours command, when trying to turn on an control the contour label Text, the justification is greyed out because we must alignment the text center-center with the contour line. That option will be greyed out and you will not be allowed to make this change because we are cutting into the contour line to place the text.
What Jacquelyn and myself were originally looking at is the Surface > View Surface > Label Contours command, which will allow you to label a contour and display the location/justification of the text which would be a label after the contours are generated.
