TIN from Shape File
"Rick Carle
Is there a way to create a TIN file from a GIS Shape file? I've heard that Data Acquisition might be able to do it, but it's not very apparent when I poked around in the module. Thanks.

Re: Geopak CR - Minimum length Contour to Label
Jonathan Meyer
I too am having the same problem. It is a lot of work to make a decent looking contour map using existing data. I am also (Dare I say it .....) an Eagle Point / AutoCAD user. A handy tool that EP does not auto label contours, you have to do it manually…

Out of memory error
Ed Turner
Hi, I am having a problem with a large dtm derived from LiDAR data. It is about 350MB in size, and when I try to generate contours in either InRoads XM or v8i, I get an out of memory (swap device may be full) error. I was actually able…

Ray, Do you have Delete Ink turned on? If so, toggle it off and leave Pen toggled on. Thanks, Jason Smithey

Re: text frame around contour elevations
Jason W. Smithey [Bentley Civil]
Keri, What civil product are you using? In the InRoads Group, see the attached video (in Nathan Davenport's reply) as an example of how to accomplish this. Thanks, Jason Smithey

Keri, I apologize for the quality of the video. I have been trying to attach a better quality video off and on for over 2 hours but I keep getting errors. Let me see if a colleague can post the AVI. Yes, create a text style with…

Re: Power Civil: Contour Labeling
AGranquist
I have a couple of requests: Can an option be included in Site or the DTM tools to place the labels on top of, instead of breaking, the contour lines? This is helpful when trying to measure perimeter and areas of closed contours for detention…

Re: Importing contours AutoCAD file
Jonathan Bridge
Sri Jonathan's Smith's recommendation is good, but may not solve the problem of sheer volume. If not, read on ... If as you say the client really does not have and cannot obtain the base survey model from which the contours were generated…

Importing contours AutoCAD file
Srinivas
Hello all, I have received huge data in contours format (1m interval & each CAD file 200MB to 400 MB total 12nos) from client and the total area covers around 12313.9 hectares. They don't have other format and it is totally hilly terrain. Each…

Contours label masking

Has anyone succeeded in viewing contours and their labels using a masking text style? I would like to label the contours without clipping (breaking) the lines. Thanks. InRoads XM, Microstation 08.05.02.55

Re: Site Modeler: Breaklines vs. contours

Hi Neil, The contour feature is to allow a better modeling on ridges, avoiding steps. When choosing contour feature, the modeler does not allow triangles to have all there vertices on the same contour (same elevation). So it forces triangle to…

Re: MXROAD - Contour Plan
aleksander_zamorski
Hello Mr. Lennon, The best way is to create an own style set for contours and display contour model with this style set. In private style set you can define masks, colours, fonts, linetypes etc. You can also use existing MX style set ie. "MfW Contour…

Re: Geopak CR - Minimum length Contour to Label

I consider contour labeling to be a big downside for Bentley civil products. While the automatic contours are great when designing with transient contours, there must be more control over their placement for final drawings. Other software packages provide…
