Why doesn't the area measured by End Area Volumes match what I measure in MicroStation?
The most likely explanation for the discrepancy is that there is a vertical exaggeration factor on the General leaf of the Create Cross Section command. In that case, the measured area would differ from what is annotated by that factor. InRoads automatically draws the cut and fill areas at the same exaggeration as the cross sections. However, the true area is used and annotated in the volume calculations. When the area is calculated in MicroStation, it is based on the exaggerated shape, not the true shape. However, if you see discrepancies in your areas that you cannot attribute to this vertical exaggeration factor, there’s a problem. In that case, you should rerun the end area volume command.
