The error states could not find patterns with the specified criteria.
Most likely, the patterns specified in the draw xs from surfaces tool cannot be found.
Go to the dgn where the pattern lines are, do a match to select the attributes of the element. Make sure the tool can display/undisplay the selection.
Also, make sure the patterns are either Microstation lines or line-strings. The tool will not work with complex chains.
