    Problem :

When displaying Cross Sections the user is getting an Error Message Unable to Genrate Normal from Variable CHAN

    Background :

The user is able to cut cross sections through two models, but when displaying the cross sections, the user then sees the above error message.

The problem is caused when theer is an incompatible number of sections. For example if there are 23 design cross sections, and only 22 through the survey model. This could be casued by sparse ground data or a significant amount of the data being spot levels. It could mean that the sesctioning misses a cut through the ground model. The sections are actually cut, its just that when trying to draw them, at the location where the section is missing, it cannot reference the sections drawing. Its is unfortunately, not one of our most descriptive error messages. To identify where the likely problem is, draw up the section strings that have been created in plan, and by inspection, find out where the missing section is.

    Solution :

The two best solutions are to either triangualte the Ground model and section this instead of the string model. This is more liekly to produce a cut where the data is sparse. Aleternatively,, increase the section offsets, before cutting the sections, to make sure you have a section cut at each chainage.
