Issue

Sometimes it may be desireable to display slope direction between two non-earthworks strings. This can be easily be done by using something called Slope Signature Strings. These strings can be created between any two strings and indicate the direction of the slope between them. They can be drawn in several different styles. For example as seen in the screen grab below.

You create these strings using MX>Modify>Edit>Edit Strings>Add Slope Signature Strings.

Once they are created you can add them to your Style Set to dictate the colour of the strings. green is usually chosen.

However, sometimes Tadpole display is required to indicate the slope. Whilst these are not 5D Earthworks strings and the detailed interpretation will not display them with tadpoles, it is possible in a style set using the display options.

Solution.

To get the tadpole to display correctly set the Style Increment to 0 as below.

Open up your Style Set and go to your Slope Signature Feature.

You can probably leave most of the display options as they were, but you do want to apply a Linestyle, so you need to Set A Line Style. So expand this option, and then set the following parameters as shown in the screen grab below ;

You are setting the string to be drawn with the TADPOLE Macro line, stretched between every second point. It will then join up the two points with a tadpole macroline. Note this is a stretched macroline, not a macrosymbol.

The Result is a display as shown below.

Open up your Style Set and go to your Slope Signature Feature.

You can probably leave most of the display options as they were, but you do want to apply a Linestyle, so you need to Set A Line Style. So expand this option, and then set the following parameters as shown in the screen grab below ;

You are setting the string to be drawn with the TADPOLE Macro line, stretched between every second point. It will then join up the two points with a tadpole macroline. Note this is a stretched macroline, not a macrosymbol.

The Result is a display as shown below.
