Problem Description

How do you bring in an ASCII file with Station Offset Elevation data and create Cross Sections showing the ground line.

Solution

In GEOPAK Survey you can import ASCII Files and one of the formats is for SOE to Cross Section.  You would create a New Dataset and select the Data Source to be ASCII File(s) and SOE to Cross Section.  Then add your Station Offset Elevation ASCII file to the list at the bottom of the dialog.

Once the ASCII file is added you will click OK to advance to the SOE to Cross Section dialog.

Highlight one row and set the appropriate Delimiter, in this case it is a comma.  Then below the list set the columns as shown above.  Column 1 is Station, Column 2 is Offset, and Column 3 is Elevation.  Select the GEOPAK Chain that the data correlates to and click the Process button.

The cross sections will be plotted in the DGN file and can be reviewed with the Cross Section Navigator.
