    Problem Description

There are often issues that occur while using GEOPAK that seem odd to the user.  A GEOPAK tool that worked the day before is now causing the program to crash.  Dialogs are not functioning correctly or look different than before.  You can use the same tool on another machine and it works.  These are just a few of the issues that may come up and require the user to delete the GEOPAK Resource Files.

    Solution

The Resource files used to be located on each users machine in the BIN folder or C:\Program Files\Bentley\GEOPAK\bin\.  However that was changed in Select Series 2.  We now have a configuration variable that points to where the GEOPAK Resource Files should be located for each user.  By default the path is C:\Users\<User Name Here>\AppData\Local\Bentley\MicroStation\8.11\<cryptic folder name>\GEOPAK\

To determine your location you will need to open up GEOPAK Civil Engineering Suite or Power GEOPAK and select Workspace>Configuration from the Main pull down menu.

Scroll down on the right side of the dialog and look for the variable GPK_RSCDIR.  Make note of the path where the resource files and located.  Then exit the program and go to that location and delete all files in the folder.

It will also be necessary to check your GEOPAK Working Directory for GEOPAK Resource files too.  To do this open up GEOPAK Civil Engineering Suite or Power GEOPAK and go to Applications>GEOPAK>ROAD>User Preferences.

Make note of the path to the Working Directory and go to that location in Windows Explorer and delete all file that have and RSC extension.  It should be noted that GEOPAK Resource Files should not be in any location other than where the GPK_RSCDIR points to.  Having GEOPAK Resource Files in the Working Directory will most certainly cause unstable behavior in the program.

Once you have deleted the files in both these locations then you will need to try the particular GEOPAK application again and see if the results are different.
