There is a potential issue with the install of the MicroStation 08.11.09.608 and 08.11.09.655 dependency builds used by InRoads/GEOPAK/MX 08.11.09.722 and .789. When installing MicroStation 08.11.09.608, you MUST uninstall MicroStation .578 before you install. It will NOT update the installed .578 MicroStation version correctly. The version in the Control Panel reflects the new .608 version number, but the registry still lists .578 as the installed program. This is also found to be an issue with the latest civil SS4 product and the MicroStation prerequisite of 08.11.09.654. It is also suggested to uninstall before upgrading to this prerequisite version of MicroStation. We origianally found this to be a problem because when you install MS .608 on top of .578 and you look at the InRoads shortcut icon, the target is pointing to "C:\MICROSTATIONDIR\uStation.exe..." instead of the correct local path for the MicroStation executable "C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries)\MicroStation\uStation.exe" The result is you can still open the product if you have windows correct the problem by changing the path to its "nearest match", but the MicroStation program on the machine is still MicroStation .578. This could lead to future issues since the new version of InRoads requires MicroStation 08.11.09.608. What happens if you have already installed MS .608 on top of .578? In this case, we are able to uninstall the .608 version but MS .578 DLLs and registry entries still exist on the machine because the product code is different. So we have a product on the machine that we cannot get rid of and need to be removed. Here are the steps we followed to remove the MicroStation products and get the correct 08.11.09.608 version installed: 1. Go into the Control Panel and Uninstall MicroStation 08.11.09.608. 2. Reinstall MicroStation 08.11.09.578 from your Bentley Downloads. 3. Uninstall MicroStation 08.11.09.578 through the control panel. 4. Reinstall MicroStation 08.11.09.608 from your Bentley Downloads. 5. Install InRoads 08.11.09.722
What should happen is InRoads should NOT install if it doesn’t see the MicroStation 08.11.09.608 version as an installed product in the registry. But this is not the case so we have an issue and this is the best process to get the correct versions on the machine.
