What is the difference in importing BM’s as Cogo Points vs Random Points? I have a text file with benchmark locations (northing, easting, elevation, and name) and need to show them in plan view just with a benchmark symbol and the name of each next to it.
I suggest using the Text Import Wizard and importing as Cogo Points, assigning a style that contains the benchmark symbol at import; especially if you have no intent of creating a surface. Importing as Cogo points will save them to your ALG. Being stored in your ALG, to display/annotate them you would use Geometry>View Geometry>Horizontal Annotation. If you fail to add a style to your imported points, you can assign a style at Geometry>Cogo Points>Edit Multiple. At Points key in an asterisk (that will add all of you Cogo Points and you will see them listed). Select Reassign Style, select your desired style, and then Apply.
