Question:

What is a Control Point? How is this different than a stored point record in my survey?

Answer:

The OpenRoads Survey program considers the Control Points as fixed/monument/GPS points that will stay fixed during import or adjustment.

For example, if a user creates a setup in the field by using assumed coordinates, these stored point coordinates will be replaced by the Control Point coordinates of the same point name when the raw data is imported. The adjustment reports would show the difference between the stored coordinates and the control point coordinates.

In addition to setting point coordinates during import, Control Points are also necessary to run Adjustments in order to specify which points are fixed and will not be adjusted.
