What does the R1 stand for after the station value?

Problem Description

When the range displays it come in as “STA. XX+XX.XXXX R1 TO STA. XX+XX.XXXX R1” is there a way to remove the R1 after the station and what does the R1 stand for?

Solution

The R1 after the station value refers to the region of the alignment. If a station equation exist on the chain then the chain is broken into multiple regions, R1, R2, etc.
