    Overview

Problem: You have loaded MX in AutoCAD but the correct "double menus" do not appear or are scrambled.

    1. Make sure you have downloaded Autodesk Service pack 1 for ACAD 2006. Then make sure you have MX version 2004 with Mx SP2 update installed. (build number 08.05.02.26) The missing menus in Mx in ACAD can be due to a number of things but frequently, where a machine has had different versions of Autocad installed there are redundant registry entries left behind.
    2. The first thing to check is that any old MX Mnu files are removed - as follows:

You need to delete the MXAC*.* menu files from the temp user structure. You may need to use the OS SHELL command prompt to view or access these files (CD %temp% then DEL MXAC*.*)

Make sure these files are cleared out.

    3. The next step is making a new ACAD Profile: Open plain ACAD. Go to TOOLS>OPTIONS> PROFILES. Choose and make current. Delete the MX profile. Set your preferences as you like them and save a new profile name. Now re-enter MX in Autocad and your menus should be ok.
    4. Now if the menu problem persists then you need to repeat step 3. Then you need to go back to the PROFILES tab, highlight a good profile and choose "Export" and save it an accessible location as mx.arg e.g. c:\MXacad profile\mx.arg. Now right-click>properties on the MX in AutoCAD*** icon used to start the software, and on the "Shortcut" tab; go to the end of the Target: line and add the following:  /p<path to saved profile>\mx.arg  e.g. D:\Program Files\Bentley\MX\MFW\Mfa\MiaRun.exe /menu=MXRENEW /p c:\acad profile\mx.arg (where MXRENEW could be MXROAD etc depending on your license) This, in effect, forces a new MX profile each time you start MX. For example:

    5. Finally: One method of forcing the menus back up is to type MENU at the command line and load the ACAD.CUI file. Exit out of MX in ACAD and re-enter. If this fails copy the ACAD.CUI elsewhere as back up and then delete the main ACAD.CUI file.
    6. If your Autodesk product is CIVIL 3D then refer to the separate technote/FAQ on the issue.
