    Arenium Server

    System requirements
You should ensure that your Arenium Server meets the following system requirements:

    Hardware

    ItemDescription
    Processor Minimum: 500MHz
    Recommended: 900MHz or higher
    Memory 512MB (1 - 4 users)
    1GB (5 users or higher)
Networking TCP/IP protocol. If the server does not have an Ethernet card, then a dongle is required to secure the server.
Free disk space The Arenium Server installation needs 180MB of free disk space. It is advisable to install Arenium in a separate disk partition so there can be no disk space conflicts with other applications.

    Software availability
For NT4 systems, Personal Web Server, Internet Information Server and Microsoft Transaction Server are supplied in the NT4 Option Pack.

For Windows 2000 and XP systems, Personal Web Server, Internet Information Server, and COM+ are supplied as part of the base operating system.

    Installed software
When Arenium Server is installed, the following system software is installed if it is not already on the machine:

    • Microsoft Data Access Components MDAC V2.5 SP1 (20MB)
    • XML Parser V4 SP1 (2MB)
    • Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 (200MB during installation, 80MB after)

Note: If you are installing MX on the same PC, you must also ensure that the PC meets the minimum specification required for MX. See the MX documentation for further details.

    Restrictions
Any Arenium server running NT4 Workstation is limited to a total of 2 Arenium client connections. This is because Microsoft Transaction Server with NT4 Workstation has a limit of 2 client connections.

An Arenium Internet server running Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional is limited to a total of 5 Arenium client connections. This is because Personal Web Server (PWS) has a limit of 10 client connections and each Arenium client uses 2 PWS connections.

An Arenium LAN/WAN server running NT4 Server, Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP Professional or Windows 2000 Server has no limitations on client usage.

Therefore, if you need more than 2 client connections (NT4 Workstation) or if you need more than 5 client connections (Windows 2000 or XP Professional) you must upgrade your server to NT4 Server or Windows 2000 Server.

    Arenium Client

    System requirements
You should ensure that your Arenium Client PC meets the following system requirements:

    Client with MX installed
The system requirements are the same as those for a PC with MX only installed. Please refer to the MX documentation for further details. Note that, to use MX dependencies, MX V2.6.2 or later is required.

    Client without MX installed

    Hardware

    ItemDescription
    Processor 500MHz or higher
    Memory 128MB or higher
    Networking TCP/IP protocol
Free disk space 45MB (plus 20MB for MDAC and 80MB for IE5.5, which requires 200MB during installation)

    Systems software
The supported operating systems for a non-MX Client are:

    • Windows 98
    • Windows 98 SE
    • Windows Me
    • Windows NT4 (SP5 or higher)
    • Windows 2000
    • Windows XP
    • Installed software

When an Arenium Client is installed, the following system software is installed if it is not already on the machine:

    • Microsoft Data Access Components MDAC V2.5 SP1 (20MB)
    • XML Parser V4 SP1 (2MB)
    • Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 (200MB during installation, 80MB after)

    MX

    System requirements
The following configuration details the recommended requirements for MX V2.6 running under Windows NT, Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Note the following:

    • The requirements for the three MX environments are shown under the appropriate heading, i.e., Windows, AutoCAD and MicroStation.
    • If there is no difference in requirement between the environments, this is marked with a hyphen (-).
    • Minimum values are shown in square brackets.
    • If you intend to make use of the new multiple document features in AutoCAD 2000 you could require a significantly larger amount of memory and larger disk paging file than the numbers quoted.
    • MX Change in AutoCAD requires AutoCAD R14 or later.
    • MX Change in MicroStation requires MicroStation V8.
    • If MX is to be installed on a network drive, or project folders are to be created on a network drive, the drive must be capable of supporting long file names.
    • Installing this version of MX requires Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) version 2.5 SP1 (unless a later version already exists on your PC). This may be supplied on the CD and installed automatically, although for installations on non-English operating systems the installation may terminate with a message requiring installation of Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) version 2.5 SP1 before the installation will continue. A fully configured country CD will automatically install the correct MDAC to match the operating system language.
    • Installing this version of MX requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 (unless a later version already exists on your PC). This may be supplied on the CD and installed automatically, although for installations on non-English operating systems the installation may terminate with a message requiring installation of Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 before the installation will continue. A fully configured country CD will automatically install the correct Internet Explorer to match the operating system language.
