Question:
When I initiate the Target Aliasing tool, I get the following Reminder. What does this mean?
Answer:
Prior to version 08.11.09.845, in order for linear targets to be listed as an available target alias, it was necessary to add them in as a corridor reference. The Add Corridor Reference command can be accessed from the Civil Tools Task menu:
It can also be accessed from the Corridor Objects dialog:
Once a linear target is added as a corridor reference using either method shown above, the target will be available as a target alias.
Beginning in version 08.11.09.845, a new configuration variable was added that will allow the user to show all available linear targets in Target Aliasing without adding them as a corridor reference:
TARGET_ALIAS_ALLOW_ALL_LINEARS
When this variable is set to "1", all linear targets in the active DGN or any attached reference files will be automatically added to the Target Aliasing available targets list.
Example:
In the example below, the Target Type is "Linear Vertical" and the Linear Target is "A".
Because I have set up the configuration variable as shown above (TARGET_ALIAS_ALLOW_ALL_LINEARS=1), all linear vertical targets are available in Target Aliasing. I have three horizontal geometry elements in my civil model. Notice that my Mainline has two profiles, so both are listed.
Note: If you have the configuration variable set to "1" and you decide to add corridor references, the configuration setting will be ignored and only the added corridor references will be available in Target Aliasing.
To clarify this - if have your configuration variable set to "1" and you do not have any corridor references defined, all linear targets will be listed:
If you have your configuration variable set to "1" you and you do have corridor references defined, only the manually added corridor references will be listed. The configuration variable is ignored.
