Question:
How do you drape an element onto a surface/Terrain in order for the elevations of that feature to match the elevations of the Terrain? This was accomplished in native InRoads through the Drape Surface command. Is there an equivalent command/tool in OpenRoads?
Answer:
The tool used for assigning elevations to an element from a terrain is the 'Quick Profile From Surface' tool.
In order to assign the elevations from a terrain, open a Profile Model for the element. If you have an active Terrain displayed in the profile, you can click on that Terrain profile and 'Set as Active Profile'. Otherwise, use the Vertical Geometry > Quick Profile from Surface command to add a terrain profile line to the Profile Model of the element and set it as the active profile. Please view this video for a demonstration on the Quick Profile From Surface tool.
