Question:

How do you drape an element onto a surface/Terrain in order for the elevations of that feature to match the elevations of the Terrain? This was accomplished in native InRoads through the Drape Surface command. Is there an equivalent command/tool in OpenRoads?

Answer:

The tool used for assigning elevations to an element from a terrain is the 'Quick Profile From Surface' tool.

In order to assign the elevations from a terrain, open a Profile Model for the element. If you have an active Terrain displayed in the profile, you can click on that Terrain profile and 'Set as Active Profile'. Otherwise, use the Geometry > Vertical > Profile Creation > "Quick Profile from Surface" command to add a terrain profile line to the Profile Model of the element and set it as the active profile.

Once a profile is created from the terrain for a 2D element and set as the active profile, the element will display in the 3D Model draped on the surface.
