    Vertical Faces Appear in Roadway Designer, but not in Cross Sections

    Question:

    I have vertical walls in my templates. These walls appear fine in Roadway Designer, however, I notice when I created cross sections, points appear to be skipped.

    Answer:

    The InRoads DTM triangulation algorithm lacks the ability to triangulate vertical faces. Simply put, a DTM cannot contain two points that share the same XY values, but a different Z value (elevation). If this situation is encountered, InRoads will skip one of the points. For this reason, it is necessary to offset vertical faces by a small amount. We generally recommend to offset either the top or bottom of a vertical face by a value of 0.01. Depending on circumstances, you may need to adjust this value slightly. For additional information see the wiki below:
