Which commands use the "Terrain Model Feature Type" field in the Linear Default Settings section of the Feature Definitions?

Answer:

Currently, the "Terrain Model Feature Type" for features imported into a terrain is set by each command individually during import. This field in the Feature Definition is currently not being used, but may be at some point in the future. (Note: The survey commands do use the "Terrain Model Attribute" when building the terrain.)
