When working in the InRoads SS4, there was an ability to open the Civil Report browser, open an InRoads Preferences *.XIN and report on the Feature Styles and Symbologies within that XIN. Now that the XIN is no longer used in OpenRoads Designer CONNECT, how do you report on the Feature Definitions, Feature Symbologies, etc.?
In the OpenRoads Designer 2018 Update 3 version, we added Migration Utilities to allow for import and export of Feature Definitions, Feature Symbologies, and Element Templates. You can utilize these Migration Utilities to format an export of the OpenRoads Standards into an Excel Spreadsheet.
To have the Import/Export option for Feature Definitions in OpenRoads Designer > Explorer, you will need to edit the configuration file to add _CIVIL_STANDARDS_IMPORTEXPORT = 1 (Bentley provided configurations: _OpenRoads Training – Imperial.cfg or _OpenRoads Training – Metric .cfg which is located in C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenRoads Designer CONNECT 10.00.00\Configuration\Organization-Civil).
Alternatively, this variable can be set by creating a new configuration variable within the software. Select File > Settings > Configuration > Configuration Variables > New and add _CIVIL_STANDARDS_IMPORTEXPORT at Variable and setting New Value =1 then selecting OK.
In order to report on the Feature Definitions, you need to go to the Feature Definitions under the OpenRoads Standards in your dgnlib or active dgn file, right-click on the Feature Definitions category and select 'Export'.
This will allow you to save an XML File. Once the XML is saved, go to C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenRoads Designer CE\Configuration\Organization-Civil\Migration Utilities\Features Import Export and open the features_importexport_excel.exe file. At the top, browse to the XML file you exported and select the 'Export to excel' option.
This will export an XLSX file which can be opened in Microsoft excel. From Excel, you will see many tabs which categorize and sort the Feature Definitions.
The same process can be done with Feature Symbologies. Go to the Feature Symbologies tab in the OpenRoads Standards, right-click and export to an XML. Then go to the same features_importexport_excel.exe utility, browse to the xml file and Export to Excel. Then you can open that Excel Spreadsheet to view the information.
