Default mapping file for import geometry using the CIVIL_GEOMETRY_IMPORT_FD_TABLE configuration variable in Open(Roads/Site/Rail) Designer

    Product(s): Open Roads/Site/Rail Designer
    Version(s): 10.10+
    Area:  Geometry
Original Author: Marcus Blake, Bentley Technical Support Group

    Question:

When using the import geometry command, how can I map the feature definition table entry to a specific excel file?

    Answer:

Add the configuration variable CIVIL_GEOMETRY_IMPORT_FD_TABLE that defines the default mapping file for import geometry. When this variable is added to your workspace environment and pointed to the excel feature definition map file, the feature definitions table box (as seen highlighted in the image above) should be populated by default so that users don't have to browse to find this file each and every time geometry is imported.
