Resolving SignCAD MDL Font Resources Alert

Question:

When using the SignCAD MDL to open, place or copy/paste signs into MicroStation or OpenRoads Designer, a SignCAD font resources alert appears. If I press "Yes" to the alert, then an "Unable to set SYMBOLOGY variable" information message and a SignCAD Paste Sign failed message display. How do I fix this SignCAD MDL font issue?

Answer:

1. This font resource issue may be caused by the workspace you are using. Select the delivered Training and Examples workspace to see if the SignCAD MDL Font Resources Alert still displays. If you still encounter the font resource messages, then try the following:

2. Uninstall OpenRoads SignCAD from the Control Panel>Programs and Features.

3. Download the OpenRoads SignCAD setup (10.02.00.11) from Bentley's Software Downloads and save it into a C:\Temp folder on the computer.

4. Install OpenRoads SignCAD from the Administrator Command Prompt.

5. Load the SignCAD MDL using the instructions for CONNECT or V8i applications.

6. Use the SignCAD MDL to open, place or copy/paste signs into MicroStation or OpenRoads Designer.

In Bentley CONNECT products, there is a SignCAD workflow that has the Open, Place and Paste options.

In Bentley V8i products, the SignCAD menu is available under Applications>SignCAD.
