Error using the Place Table tool with an Excel spreadsheet

Problem Description:

Using the Place Table tool with an Excel spreadsheet results in the error "Could not obtain data from data source". How can this be resolved?

Solution:

This error appears to occur as a result of an update to Microsoft Office. To resolve this issue, please follow the steps listed below:

1. Access the Apps & features dialog from the Settings menu.

2. In the field "Search this list", search for Microsoft 365 and then select the Modify button. Once the repair dialog opens, choose the option for "Quick Repair".

3. After the repair is completed, use the Place Table tool with an Excel spreadsheet to verify that it is placed without receiving this error.

4. If the error persists, completing an uninstall and reinstallation of Office 365 should resolve the issue.
