Question:

How do you display a vertical alignment in a profile set if you do not have a surface?

Answer:

Run the command, Evaluation>Profile>Create Profile.
Open the "Create Profile" leaf.
Click on "Source" and set the "Create" pulldown to “Window Only”.

You will now need to set the elevation limits of your profile window:
Open the "Controls" leaf.
Under "Elevation" toggle on “Use” and set your high and low elevations.
Click “Apply” and place a data point in the design file to identify the location of your profile window.

A profile window is created, but the active vertical alignment is not displayed. Display your vertical alignment by using the command, Geometry>View Geometry>Active Vertical.
