Question:

How do you control cells place within Microstation with bylevel symbology?

Answer:

In order to control the symbology of the cells bylevel, the symbology of the cell must be edited in the cell library.  The procedure to do so is as follows:

1. From within your design file, go to Element>Cells.
2. Find the cell that you wish to update in the list.
3. Right-click on that cell and select “open for editing".  This will open up the cell in the cell library.
4. Select all of the elements in the cell and change the color, line weight, etc to “bylevel”.
5. When placing the cell within InRoads, the cell will now take on the symbology of the level it is assigned to according to its named symbology.
