Question:
How is Superelevation calculated in OpenRoads SS3?
Answer:
Superelevation calculations use either a SEP file or a SRL file. In lieu of these files, a comma separated values file (*.csv) can be imported, which contains station and transition data. Examples of both of these formats are delivered as part of the install process. In the workspace, the variable (CIVIL_SUPERELEVATION_RULES_DIRECTORY) should point to the folder containing the superelevation configuration files. Superelevation lanes can be edited dynamically or via table. Once the superelevation lanes are developed, they can be assigned to the corridor. It is important to note that a new superelevation setting must be toggled on within the template library for points to be considered for superelevation.
