First step to creating a non-linear superelevation transition is to create configuration variables for the non-linear lengths. This can be done under Workspace > Configuration.

Select New

Add in the configuration variables CIVIL_SUPER_REVERSE_PARABOLIC_NONSYMMETRICAL_1_SAG and CIVIL_SUPER_REVERSE_PARABOLIC_NONSYMMETRICAL_1_CREST with the specific desired lengths.

Note: There are also additional configuration variables available: CIVIL_SUPER_REVERSE_PARABOLIC_NONSYMMETRICAL_2_SAG and CIVIL_SUPER_REVERSE_PARABOLIC_NONSYMMETRICAL_2_CREST. For 1_SAG, the default is set internally to 45 while for 1_CREST is default set internally to 55. For 2_SAG, the default is set internally to 30 while 2_CREST is default set internally to 40.

After these configuration variables are set, the program (MicroStation or the Power Product) will need to be shut down and restarted so that the changes can be saved.

Second step, the *.SEP file needs to be edited to show the different type of transition. This can be done by going to C:\ProgramData\Bentley\Civil\Standards\8.11.9\en\Superelevation\SEP (or where the SEP files are that are being used) and make edits to the SEP file. In this scenario, the inroads_english_2011.sep file will be edited. Change the “elevationtransition” from LINEAR to PARABOLIC.

Calculate Superelevation . Remember to use the *.SEP Standards File that was edited at the beginning of the procedure. Make sure that the Transition ID selected matches the configuration variable desired.

Finally, assign the superelevation to the corridor.

The following steps will cover the procedure to generate a Non-Linear Supelevation Transition when working in InRoads V8i SELECTseries 3, Open Roads Technology.

Steps to Accomplish

Make sure to select the Transition ID that matches the configuration variable desired.

Finally, assign the superelevation to the corridor.

The following steps will cover the procedure to generate a Non-Linear Supelevation Transition when working in InRoads V8i SELECTseries 3, Open Roads Technology.

Steps to Accomplish

Make sure to select the Transition ID that matches the configuration variable desired.

Finally, assign the superelevation to the corridor.
