    Steps to Accomplish

Set up Fly Through Path and Display Models

The initial stage to setting up a fly through is to create a path for the fly though to follow. For example create a string using the Design tools at a height of 1.2m (Approximate Driver Eye Level) above the centre of the carriageway lane. Save this string into a new Model.

Load the seeded composite triangulation model (How To Seed Triangulation) of the project and the model containing the fly through path string to the display.

    Create Fly Through

Load the Fly Through tool  from Utilities>Render menu>Fly Through.

A typical setup for the fly through recording is:

    • Set Standard Lens - Normal
    • Target Position - Floating (this follows tangentially along the string)
    • View - 2
    • Render Setup - Untitled
    • Render Mode - From View
    • Speed - 5
    • Resolution - 640 x 400
    • Frames - 500

From the Tools menu select Define Path. Select the start and the end of the fly through path string. Once the path has been selected you can remove the model containing the fly through path string from the display.

From the Tools menu select Record and select the video format that you want to safe the fly through to.

A higher quality fly through video can be created by selecting other render setups and render modes in the Fly Through Producer. The resolution can be increased to improve the quality also. Note that the higher quality videos take significantly more time to render then the basic videos
