When will the 200 acre limit on the optimization be removed?

I see that the 200 acre limit is now not an issue for saving files, which is very much appreciated at the early stages of building the model file.

However, back in 2012, well before Bentley purchased SITEOPS, this area limit was in place, and this seems to be the first update to it.

With regards to functionality, will the parking and roadway layout design work on acres larger than 200 acres, without submitting for optimization?

  • David, the parking and drive functionality work on any size project, though with sites that have a lot of features, like parking areas, you might see some performance slowness with regards to the layout solver.  This is all relative, though, as a 100 acre site could have just as many design features, or more, than a 1000 acre site. Though as an assumption, larger sties would have more features and data (surface) points.  This is the reason we had the 200 acre restriction, though we have seen smaller sites that have 100,000s of data points.  SITEOPS creates even more data points with all of the layout features that are added to the design.
