Using the Cut Area Command

The Cut Area command can be used to change the geometry of closed paths and areas by using other paths and areas. For example, an Other area can be cut out around a driveway and building like you may need for grading in the following plan:

Specifically:

  1. Areas can be cut with one (or more) areas
  2. Areas can be cut (divided) with paths

Workflow for Cut Area (accompanied by an example):

1. Select the Cut Area icon form the Edit tab.

2. In the bottom right corner of the Basemap Editor you will see a prompt asking for user input Area or Closed Path to be Cut.

3. Select the Area to be cut.

4. In the bottom right corner of the Basemap Editor you will see a prompt asking for user input Areas/Paths to Cut With.
