Buckling Analysis in Staad

Hi Everyone,

In carrying out P-Delta and Buckling Analysis, is the P-Delta Analysis should go first followed by Perform Buckling Analysis? The syntax will be

PDELTA KG 15 ANALYSIS SMALLDELTA
PERFORM BUCKLING ANALYSIS MAXSTEP 4

Also, what is the syntax to view the load factors per loadcase.

You DO NOT need a PDELTA analysis before the BUCKLING ANALYSIS command. These are unrelated analysis types and should NOT be used together. The buckling factors would be printed as part of the analysis output file (ANL file) for each case and you do not need to add any separate commands for that. If you have the Advanced Analysis license, the software would also provide a Buckling page within the postprocessing mode and you will also be able to see the buckling mode shapes

Thanks for the input,

I'm particularly interested with the Geometric Stiffness, if the applied load is tensile, then the geometric stiffness tend to increase the global stiffness of the system, while if the load is compressive then geometric stiffness is decreased.

Is the Buckling Analysis accounts P-Delta effects?
Also, in carrying-out buckling analysis, either the basic solver or Anvanced Anlaysis, should i consider REPEAT LOAD?

Lastly, are the member foces derived from Buckling analysis are already factored? Which means the member forces are mutilplied by a certain buckling factor wich is the ratio of Critical Load/Applied load.

Yes pdelta effects are included in the buckling analysis. You should always consider REPEAT LOAD for buckling analysis. The member forces are factored for basic but not for advanced solver. The following wiki has more details
