Isolated Footing Design

Hello,

The isolated footing option given in supports dailogue box in support section. I want to know How to assign the parameters related to that particular support.Waiting for the reply.

  • I do not find "isolated footing" option given in Staad V8i. I can not say about the older version. In Staad V8i It is thefondation which is generally applied for mat foundation not for isolated footing. With the "Fixed But" option Isolated footing can be simulated for which I will request you to refer to Example 3 of the Help. Design for the Isolated footing can be obtained from Staad foundation .

  • I presume you are asking about the ELASTIC FOOTING command described in section 5.27.3 of the Technical Reference manual. Here is an example of that command.

    UNIT KIP FEET

    SUPPORTS

    1 4 ELASTIC FOOTING 12 10 DIRECT Y SUBGRADE 200

    PRINT SUPP INFO

It is meant to tell STAAD to calculate a spring constant based on the dimensions of an isolated footing located beneath a column, and, the subgrade modulus of the soil. It is not meant for concrete design of the isolated footing. If you are looking for concrete design of an isolated footing, use STAAD.Foundation.

Here is a sample model that uses that command.

    STAAD PLANE

    UNIT KIP FEET
