When I try to do a aluminum design as per US code, I get a message "ALUMINUM CODE IS NOT SUPPORTED ". I am able to do Steel and Concrete design using US codes. It is only the Aluminum that is causing the problem. Why?

The American Aluminum code is not included as part of the US Standard Design Code license whereas the Steel ( AISC ) and Concrete ( ACI ) code licenses come as part of it. Aluminum design code license comes as part of a US Specialized Design Code license which needs to be separately purchased. So please ensure that you have the license for that code before you attempt to do a design as per the US Aluminum Code.

To check whether you have the license for US Specialized Design Code or not, you may click on the License Management option as shown in the screenshot below and check if the license is there and if the number of licenses under the Available column is greater than 0 ( meaning license is available ).

If the license does not show up under Product column or the number of Available license shows as 0, you either do not have the license or the available license is being used by someone else in your company. If it is the former, you need to purchase license for US Specialized Design Code. Please contact your Bentley account manager who would be able to assist you. If the license shows up but the available number shows as 0, the license may be in use by another user in your company. You may want to check with your system administrator.
