Description
When I start STAAD.Pro I get a message ‘Valid Trial License was not found or trial license expired, entering limited mode...' STAAD then simply fails to display and appears to close.
With the Bentley License Management Tool I am able to see STAAD.Pro licenses, check out one onto the local computer, but still get the same message when I start STAAD.Pro.
Solution
Exit STAAD.Pro
1. Go into the Registry Editor (Start > Run - type in "regedit")2. Go to one of the following locations, based on whether the operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit:32-bit OS: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE> Software > Bentley > STAADPro > License64-bit OS: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE> Software > WoW6432Node > Bentley > STAADPro > License
Look at the data for the field called "Type". If you find that it is "USL", please change it to "STANDARD". See the figure below.
The Universal Structural License (USL) option is no longer used in STAAD.Pro V8i. The STANDARD option is the only supported configuration now.
If the registry key does not exist in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, please try one of the following locations instead depending on whether the computer is running a 32-bit or 64-bit operating system.
32-bit OSHKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bentley\STAADPro\License
64-bit OSHKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Bentley\STAADPro\License
