Does STAAD.Pro Pushover analysis check beams for axial plus bending interaction ?

The Pushover Analysis implemented in STAAD.Pro follows the guidelines provided by FEMA 356-2000. As per FEMA 356 - 2000 only deformation controlled action needs to be considered for beam member. No interaction between axial and bending is suggested for beams. It always assumes axial force in beam members to be low. If axial force in beam > 20% of its compressive strength, it is considered to be failed under force-controlled action and STAAD.Pro simply reports it as failed. The FEMA 356 has already been superseded by specifications like ASCE 41-06 which offers clear guidelines on what to do when axial forces in beams are significant. In the current implementation of Pushover analysis in STAAD.Pro, the beams are considered to be deformation controlled only and no interaction of axial + bending is considered.
