Extension of sisNET SS4 Support period, Oracle 12.2 support

Dear sisNET users,
As many of you know, in 2018 Bentley announced changes to the support period of V8i product versions:
  • V8i SS1 versions (08.11.07.xxx) versions were going in “expiring” support mode as of October 1st, 2018 and will go in “discontinued” mode as of July 1st, 2019.
  • V8i SS4 versions (08.11.09.xxx) versions will go in “expiring” mode as of July 1st, 2019 and in “discontinued” as of January 1st, 2021.
This is creating issues for sisNET customers who are planning or currently upgrading from version SS1 to SS4, as support of SS4 will expire within 4 months from now. At the same time, sisNET CONNECT Edition will not be ready for production use by July 1st this year, leaving sisNET users as well as Bentley without a fully supported sisNET product until sisNET CONNECT Edition will be implemented.
The sisNET team has had extensive discussions about this in recent months with support colleagues, developers, consultants and management. We are pleased to report that we have been able to arrange an extension of the support period for sisNET SS4.
In short, the following products:
  • OpenUtilities Designer SS4 ( and higher), including sisNET SS4
  • OpenUtilities Map SS4 ( and higher), including sisFLOW SS4
  • OpenUtilities PowerView SS4 ( and higher), including sisVIEW SS4
  • Bentley sisIMS SS4 ( and higher)
  • Stay on full support until end of 2020
  • Will have no period with expiring support
  • Will have their support discontinued as of January 1st, 2021
The extended support applies to the above-mentioned products. The support period for underlying MicroStation and Bentley Map software is unchanged.
As by far most support issues are within sisNET or the underlying OpenUtilities products, this is a major improvement to our support capabilities.
The updated support policy for these products should enable our sisNET users to upgrade safely to SS4 before end of 2019, and to CONNECT Edition before end of 2020.

Note: some product versions are listed there twice, with 2 support period dates: both the old and the new dates. This will be corrected in the coming weeks.
At the end, a few words about the support of Oracle 12.2: in the near future we will provide you with an updated version of sisNET Projektverwaltung. This version is capable of working with Oracle 12.2. For sisNET itself, the following applies: The current SS4 version has worked without problems with Oracle 12.2 in our internal tests. There will be official support for Oracle 12.2 with the upcoming CONNECT Edition.
