Setting up existing Oracle spatial data to OUD

Hi,

I understand OUD is a pre-defined schema for utilities. my question is, what if I have already existing set of data in Oracle spatial and I want this data in OUD. How would I use it and recognize my own feature instances to OUD? and do I need to convert it to become part of the schema? or I start all over again and data would be waste?

  • Hi Jun,
OUD comes with a pre-configured reference data model, but it is not required that you use this data model. You can create a new schema by following the instructions in the document "ModelingAdministratorProcess.pdf" that is delivered with the application. In your case, it sounds like the best course would be to use Geospatial Administrator's schema discovery to create a geospatial schema to match the Oracle Spatial data model. Then follow the instructions in section 3.2.1.3 of the document to import that schema. Once imported, you can modify it to make changes, such as adding network connectivity information, etc. Once that is complete, you register the schema against your database.
Let me know if you need more detailed instructions on using either GSA or Modeling Administrator.
    Thanks,
    Mike
