Convert from RS wire to promis e

We have installed Promis-e(V8i stand alone) to convert our old Rockwell software based drawings on Autocad 2002 (RSWire Add-On Designer 4.01 IEC)

To convert the old drawings into the new version i have to use the migration, quiestion is how to start...?

  • Hello Bruno.  The earliest version of promis.e or RS Wire that promis.e V8i can migrate is promis.e 5.05 / 5.06.  So you will need to first convert the projects to promis.e 5.05 before migrating them to promis.e V8i.  Converting projects to promis.e 5.06 is done by opening them in promis.e 5.06 so they are Reorganized and upgraded.  I recommend creating backups of your RS Wire projects and restoring them into promis.e 5.06.

After the projects are converted to promis.e 5.0x projects, you would migrate them using the Migration Wizard in promis.e V8i, with the "From Legacy promis-e" option selected.  We recommend migrating supporting data such as catalogs and parts databases before migrating the projects.  This will save migration time since the software will insert symbols it finds in the catalogs specified in Setup > Catalog Paths during project migration, instead of migrating the same symbols over and over on the pages.  Because of this, it is important to have the Catalog Paths in the correct order so as the software searches the paths from the top to the bottom of the list, it will find and use the correct symbols.
