Hey folks, first time poster here.
I'm trying to figure out why the autocad extents of our promis.e drawings keep extending outside of our title blocks. I've attached a screenshot with all layers turned on, and found the culprit is this DUMMY.
I am guessing this has something to do with the xref symbol DUMMY, but don't really understand how an xref symbol works and why it is only applied to some symbols.
When I try to use promis.e to modify existing symbol DUMMY, none of this text appears
If it helps, the text is on layer ECT_DGRM_NAME.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Jerry
Yesterday for some reason I had assumed all layers would be turned on automatically when I used the Create Symbol tool (what a dummy). ;)
Now that I turned all layers on, I can see the DUMMY text in Create Symbol mode. When I right click and Edit, it appears to be an attribute named "text_002".
However, when I go to Step 6: Specify Attributes -> Attribute Editor button, the only attribute in the list is DeviceID. There is no text_002 in the list. Should I just delete it?
I think I've seen this before, could this be an attribute from a previous version of promis.e that's no longer necessary?
I think it is safe to delete but I can't do more than a simple test at the moment. I'd back up the symbol by using Export Catalog on the DUMMY symbol first, just in case. Alternatively, you could try just making the text smaller instead of deleting it.
I suppose another alternative is to not specify a DUMMY symbol for the cross reference symbol specified in the families, but I believe this serves a special purpose with your customization.
