migration

Question

I am running version 8.11.11.85. When I run the migration wizard to convert an old legacy Promise file, I follow the steps in the wizard and point to the old files on the server. 
 When I start the migration wizard, I instantly get a message that the conversion is complete but the only thing that was created was the project file name. It seems to hang up 
 and then I have to close the wizard. 
 How can I get this working? We have a lot of legacy projects that when required , have to be converted to the current version so that we can update drawings.

I tried the file you sent in the latest version of Promis.e that contained migration for Legacy projects older than 10+ years like the one you supplied, Select Series 7, 08.11.12.137, and with no changes to the project file, the migration completed and the project had 12 pages. The version you listed, 08.11.11.85 is a few years old and is an obsolete version for Acad. So it looks like one possible solution is to update to a more recent version of the software. 
 You could also try deleting the weird Names1.ec2 file to see if that allows the migration to complete on your version. It might also be related to a purely Acad issue that isn't occurring for me since the SS7 version is not Acad based. You could try to check for that by opening the raw dwg files in plain Acad 2015 (which is what is used for that older Promis.e build) and see if you get any errors or messages while opening the files. Occasionally in the past I have seen problems where a dwg file is corrupt but opening it in Acad prompts you to repair the drawing using the Acad commands and one repaired and saved again then Promis.e can open it.
