Not all symbol names are showing up in BOM report.

Hello,

When run report to create a BOM, it does not show all the symbol names for all my placed devices, as shown in the picture below in the red boxes. Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks in advance,

John

  • John, if the report in your screen shot is an itemized bill of materials report, and the cells in the Symbol Name column are bound to the Schematic_Symbol field (or the Layout_Symbol, Pneumatic_Symbol, Single_Line_Symbol, or Wire_Diagram_Symbol fields) in the report template, then it makes sense that most of the cells you highlighted have no value. This is because the Schematic_Symbol and other *_Symbol fields are read from the part number record, and most of the devices in your screen shot have no part number assigned. In other words, the Symbol Name values are not populated with the names of symbols placed on the pages, they are populated from part number information.

For the CA6-S1-L11 part number, I would guess that if you look at this part number in Parts Database Manager, the Schematic_Symbol field (or whichever field is bound to the Symbol Name column on the report template) has no value. If it does have a value, then perhaps you need to use Show Differences to update the project with the latest part number definition for CA6-S1-L11.
