Dear Community,
when using Bentley Substation 3D Lightning Protection tool, is there a way to separate Protection Classes? Basically I would like that different lightning masts and shield wires are associated with different rolling sphere radii.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Igor
Hi Igor. Is this question mainly about how to preserve an existing shape generated by the Lightning Protection tool when you process a different set of masts and wires?
Hello Matt,
exactly. Important is that the two sets of masts and shield wires will be subjected to different Protection Levels, resulting in different sphere radii.
I know that I can add to the previously selected set of masts and wires using the same protection setting. In this case, however, I would like to change the protection setting for the second set of masts and wires.
You could try this: Process the first set of masts/wires with the desired Radius in the Lightning Protection tool. Then use Level Manager to rename the TDS_ROLLING_SURFACE level. Remove the first set of masts/wires from Lightning Protection and add the next set. Set the desired Radius and Process again. Repeat as necessary.
Great advice! Worked like a charm! Thank you
Dear Community. I have successfully build a simplified 3D model, however I have encountered a weird thing when running the rolling sphere analysis. For what ever reason, the algorithm seems not to follow the entire path of the shield wire. Any ideas why?
Here is a screenshot:
In red areas, the algorithm follows the run of the shield wire, only to drop off later.
Thank you.
