Promis-e to Adept-e

Hi,

One of our Client forwarded Promis-E drawing built using Bentley Promis-e® software Version 5.06 (refer below screen shot).

We are trying to open the drawings in CIM-TEAM Adept-e 9.0 license Promis® Version 7.03B (refer below screen shot).

But, we could not open. Can you guide how to open Bentley Promis-e drawing in CIM TEAM Adept-e? Will it be possible or not? Are we need to buy any new software or add on package to open Bentley Promis-E drawings in CIM TEAM Adept-e?

Thanks & Regards,

Gavaskar P G

  • CIM_TEAM Adept-e is not affiliated in any way with Bentley Promis.e that I know of.  Those names aren't even spelled the same (theirs is missing the e on the end).  Also, the Promis.e version 5.06 is from around 2003, so it has long since been discontinued and replaced with much newer versions of the Promis.e software.  That software last ran on WIndows XP, itself a discontinued product from Microsoft.  You can import projects from that older legacy Promis.e 5.06 version into some newer more recent versions of Bentley Promis.e such as Promis.e V8i Select Series 7, using the Migration Wizard.  However, we have no information on how you might import 20 year old project files into some third party other software not affiliated with Bentley.  You might try contacting the vendor support for the CIM-TEAM Adept-e software and ask them since it is their product.

  • Hi,

    Thank you for your reply.

I never used Promis-e. Is there any option that I could edit Promis-e DWG files in AutoCAD without doing Promis-e conversion (Promis-e to AutoCAD Electrical) in AutoCAD.

After editing and saving in AutoCAD can I open the same DWG files in Promis-e as a project or as an individual file?

    Thanks & Regards,

    Gavaskar P G

  • You can save out the files as regular plain ACAD dwg files, but at that point they become normal cad files, not intelligent Promis.e projects.  Any changes made outside of Promis.e would not be able to be brought back in again and made intelligent. Also, if you intend to have this be a working Promis.e project when it is done, then you need to make sure you are using the same version of Promis.e as the end user, otherwise they will not be able to open the project file.  There is no way to acquire that discontinued legacy version.  You should verify that your end user is truly using that version as their current Promis.e version, and that they intend to have working Promis.e projects.  Again, that 5.06 software is over 15 years old and has much newer updated versions that are readily available and can be used to bring the older project data up to date and continue to work with it on newer computers in a much more modern safe environment.
