Select Data Folder Bentley Substation

Hi Sarvesh

This are the files and folders that apperars in the Promise Folder

But no matter what folder I select I always get the same error 

This is the second time I install Substation in this machine, I unistalled the program the first time because I thought it was a installation error, but still that window keep appering

Hi Josue,

As seen from the above screen shot of your folders you seems to be looking into the Program Files x86 folder and You need to look into Substation Data Folder and not into Promis.e Data Folder for Substation Data path you can refer the below Wiki Link.



The reason that message comes up might be that the files in the Substation Data Folder or the Folder its self might be moved from original location "C:\ProgramData\Bentley\Substation V8i\Substation Data" which highlighted in the below Wiki Link provided earlier by Sarvesh Kulkarni

I already found the folder, but I have a question, every time I want to open the program I have to look for the Data Folder ?

I just closed the program and opened again and that window asking for the folder location appears again

Hi Josue,

Selecting the Data Folder should be a one time thing. When first time you selected the Data folder, were you able to move ahead and work with projects/create new ones?

One thing that comes to my mind is that, next time when you launch the software and select the appropriate Data folder, then by using the selected configurations from that folder, try creating a new project. I would also check whether the configurations that are picked from the Data Folder are reflected in the Setup and also save it.

Hi Sarvesh 

The software let me create new projects but every time I launch the software the window of the Data folders appears again.

I have another doubt... I am trying to restore a pre defined project that appears in this folder "NAOU_3D_Substation_SS7_Dataset_folders /Projects" I followed the steps that appears in a user manual that I have but nothing happens when I finish all the steps,

Hi Josue,

Thank you for the screen sharing session.

In the meeting we saw that you were able to resolve the 'Select Data Folder' issue by creating a SQL database. Also, I believe after following the steps to restore the project, nothing happened because you did not have a database initially. We also saw that the project backup from which you were trying to restore the project had issues. After selecting a different .prj backup, the project got restored.
